The #WeAreMighty movement launched in the spring of 2020 as a way to support FISD students and teachers and rally the community together in the midst of the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic. The phrase quickly became an anthem of hope across the city as FEF coordinated a Health Hero Card Drive, Pop By Pep Rally and sold #WeAreMighty merchandise.
The movement soon morphed into a fundraising campaign called the #WeAreMighty Marathon to provide instructional resources to support in-person and virtual learning in Friendswood ISD. The #WeAreMighty Marathon will take the place of FEF's traditional Adopt-A-Grant campaign for the 2020-2021 school year in order to best serve FISD students and teachers and meet district needs.
As of January 2021 the campaign has raised $60,000+ towards the $100,000 goal funding items such as the district-wide Zoom platform, math manipulatives, BAS literacy bundles, a digital guided reading platform, technology resources, special education resources and more.
When you support the #WeAreMighty Marathon, your gift will impact many teachers across Friendswood ISD rather than just one individual teacher's classroom. However, you do have the opportunity to make your gift in honor of your favorite teacher or department. Each campus will have a marathon wall that will fill up as donations are made throughout the year so take those funds you would have spent on grants this year and consider making a tax-deductible gift to the #WeAreMighty Marathon today. Let's hit the ground running for our students and teachers!
