It aims to provide a hands on learning experiences that integrates cooking activities into the curriculum. This grant will empower students to learn about nutrition, food preparation, and the importance of making healthy choices. 

CSI FRIENDSWOOD: INVESTIGATING AUTHENTIC LEARNING IN FORENSIC SCIENCE AND CRIME DETECTION

Description:   The Forensic Science, Criminal Investigations, Law Enforcement, and Principles of Law courses believes students should have access to industry-standard equipment as they learn and apply essential career skills. This grant will provide students with real world knowledge and skills using professional tools and equipment. They will learn terminology and procedures related to the search for physical evidence at a typical crime scene, and the examination of that evidence in a typical crime laboratory. Using scientific methods, students will find, collect and analyze evidence such as fingerprints, DNA, bodily fluids, hairs, fibers, paint, glass, cartridge cases, bullet trajectories, and blood spatter patterns, just as professionals in the field would.

Description:   Sensory input is defined as any response to a sensory organ; eyes, ears, nose, tongue and skin; thus, processing any input from our external environment. Some students require a ‘sensory break’ where they are encouraged to de-escalate from the sensory stimulation of the classroom setting. This grant would bridge the gap between our current equipment (which has been purchased from previous grants) and our new ideas and innovations! This grant was created to support ALL special education students at Bales Intermediate, in ALL settings.

STALLION SCIENCE LAB - WHERE CURIOSITY MEETS DISCOVERY

Description:   Teachers believe students learn science and engineering best when they are engaged in hands-on learning, student-centered investigations. This grant will bring hands-on science experiences to all students of Windsong Elementary to allow them to discover through investigation. By having a dedicated space for science and engineering, teachers will be better equipped to lead their students through hands-on investigations.  The Stallion Science Lab will be a space where curiosity meets discovery.

Description:  Our programs serve students with a variety of disabilities, including but not limited to autism, intellectual disabilities, and physical impairments. 3 of the 5 self-contained Special Education programs at Cline are under a year old! This
grant will help provide a variety of teaching materials to help get those programs the items they need to help students generalize skills, manage behavior, and help keep students engaged. Overall, this grant will provide a unique opportunity to enhance the education and outcomes of students with disabilities by providing them with the resources they need to achieve their full potential as learners.

COOKING IN CULINARY

Description:  The purpose of this culinary grant is to supply our new state of the art professional kitchen with up-to-date equipment that our students will use for years to come. Our primary goals in selecting items for the grant centered on safety, durability, functionality and cost. A professional kitchen like the new one in FISD, will train our students so they can enter college, culinary school or the workforce with the most current knowledge of content in the field!

BOOK VENDING MACHINE

Description:  Vending machines themselves are cool - but a vending machine that delivers a book into a kid's hand? Even cooler! I want to encourage readers by adding a little extra excitement to a school reward. Students will receive a vending machine token when they are recognized for exhibiting exemplary character traits we are focusing on as a school. Students will turn that token into the vending machine and select a book of their choice to take home and keep forever!

ROBOTICS VEX IQ CLASSROOM

Description:  Bring the excitement of competition to FJH Robotics classroom with STEM Games. Each Vex IQ Education Bundle contains everything we need, including configurable game fields and game objects. These fields assemble quickly in a variety of shapes and sizes, perfect for any classroom layout. Vex IQ Robotics STEM Games are seamlessly embedded into STEM Labs to challenge our students to apply their STEM learning in a friendly, fun, and challenging set of robot games.

CERAMICS PROGRAM

Description:  The art department at FHS has focused primarily on two-dimensional work over the years, and giving students the opportunity to work with clay is a totally different expression of creativity. For many students, this form of art would be more freeing and give them more confidence than they would have with drawing something. The ceramics they create can be functional like bowls or cups, serve as decorative pieces to display, or be used as competition pieces. There are countless benefits to a ceramics program that align with our district goals!
