Locals Kitchen + Market is a new eatery in town that strives to be customers’ kitchen away from home while supporting the Friendswood ISD Education Foundation (FEF) at the same time through their weekly giveback.
“We are foodies and have always had a passion for the restaurant business,” owners Paul and Jill Sellers said. “The Locals concept features retail foodie items you won’t find in the grocery store as well as a full kitchen menu offering something for everyone.”
In addition to the one-of-a-kind retail and menu opportunities, grab-and-go items as well as an extensive wine selection are available for guests to enjoy.
Having owned restaurants before and been a part of the original One-for-One Campaign with TOMS Shoes, the Sellers knew whatever they did, they wanted to incorporate giving back locally from day one.
“At TOMS, we got to witness firsthand how the power of commerce along with giving back can make an impact on others,” Sellers said.
When the Sellers opened the business, they said they knew they wanted the giveback to affect their customers directly and they wanted kids and education to be the main benefactors.
“We chose FEF to try and make a difference in our community and directly support the school district our kids had the privilege to attend,” Sellers said.
Every Monday, 10% of all online orders placed at localskitchen.com will be donated back to the Foundation, excluding alcohol. The online ordering system is simple and allows food to be ready and waiting when the customer arrive.
Funds generated by the giveback campaign will help further FEF’s mission to support and enhance FISD by providing innovative and engaging learning opportunities for all students through meaningful relationships.
“Locals Kitchen + Market is a great addition to downtown Friendswood. The food is great, the staff is fantastic and the olive oil bar is my favorite,” FEF Fundraising Chair Brandon Kinsey said. “To have them exclusively partner with FEF as an ongoing giveback partner is another reason why Friendswood is blessed to have Locals and the Sellers family in our community.”
In addition to the weekly giveback, Locals will be partnering with the FHS Culinary teachers and students this fall, a program supported by FEF grants and funding.
“Community partnerships like these are what the Foundation is all about,” FEF Executive Director Ashley Adair said. “We are so excited to see Paul and Jill’s vision come to life and grateful to partner with them in furthering our mission for FISD students and teachers.”
