Friendswood ISD Education Foundation Hosts Another Record-Breaking Sporting Clays Tournament Netting Over $150,000

The Friendswood ISD Education Foundation (FEF) hosted its annual Sporting Clays Tournament on Friday, October 3, at the Greater Houston Gun Club, drawing more than 300 guests for a day of friendly competition and community spirit. This year’s event once again set records, netting over $150,000 in support of innovative learning opportunities for FISD students and teachers. The tournament featured 76 teams and welcomed an impressive lineup of new and returning sponsors, showcasing the community’s continued commitment to FEF’s mission.

“What stands out most is the heart behind this event. Seeing our community come together in support of our district is a powerful reminder of how much we can accomplish when we rally together around FEF’s mission,” said Ashley Adair, FEF Executive Director.

Guests enjoyed a tasty lunch underwritten by Frost Bank before taking to the clays course, sponsored by Title Sponsors R-C Ranch, Shady Grove Fertility Houston, and Traylor Mechanical. Attendees also had the chance to compete in fun activities, including Target Mixology sponsored by The Flores Family and the Team Flurry, courtesy of Elitecare Emergency Hospital.

“I truly feel like we made a difference for our students, our teachers, and the entire district. Seeing so many wonderful people come together for this event was incredible. It was a great day, a great turnout, and I know it’s going to do a lot of good for the future of Friendswood ISD,” said Event Co-Chair and FEF Director Adam Ring.

Excitement carried into the raffle, where more than 750 tickets were sold for prize packages and including two Whiskey Packages, a Blackstone Grill, Turtlebox Speaker, and a relaxing 2-night stay at Hyatt Lost Pines, with thanks to The Fitzsimmons Family, The Gaido Family, Jackson Shaw, Hyatt Lost Pines, and the FEF Sporting Clays Committee. One of the most anticipated moments of the tournament was this year’s trio of gun drawings. Two Beretta shotguns, generously provided by The Morris Family along with Britney & Josh Griffon, were awarded through the main drawing, which generated over $20,000 in ticket sales. The excitement continued with the new Poker Chip Drawing, which raised over $5,000 and sent one lucky participant home with a Syren L4S Sport Shotgun, donated by The Adam & Natalie Ring Family.

“This event is a reminder of how special our community truly is. Every person here plays a part in shaping the future of Friendswood ISD, and together, we’re building something that will benefit generations to come,” said FISD Superintendent Thad Roher.

In addition to the poker chip drawing, this year also marked the debut of FEF’s Ladies Division, created to encourage even more participation in the tournament. The division drew an enthusiastic turnout, adding fresh energy to the competition and celebrating the growing involvement of women in the event. After the teams finished on the clays course, guests enjoyed beverages sponsored by Armadillo Blast Coat, while commemorative Yetis from UPS Industrial Services, LLC were presented to top-performing teams, the best female & male shooters, the Team Flurry champions, and the Target Mixology winner. All proceeds from the tournament will directly support FEF’s mission of enhancing the educational experience in Friendswood ISD by funding innovative programs, projects, and learning opportunities for both students and teachers.
