Friendswood ISD Education Foundation Awards Over $20,000 in Scholarships to Fall 2025 Recipients

This fall, the Friendswood ISD Education Foundation (FEF) celebrated the latest round of scholarships awarded to 10 Friendswood ISD (FISD) educators through the Foundation’s Continuing Education Scholarship Program. Established in the Spring of 2024, the program was launched thanks to an initial gift from Drs. Sara and Glenn Freedman and is designed to invest in the growth and development of FISD employees by supporting their pursuit of continued education and advanced credentials.

This semester, the Foundation awarded over $20,000 in scholarships to educators representing a variety of campuses and disciplines. The program supports a wide range of professional learning goals, including Bachelor’s Degrees, Master’s Degrees, Alternative Certification Programs, and
Graduate Certifications. These opportunities benefit not only the individual recipients but also enrich the educational experience for FISD students districtwide.

This year’s fall scholarship recipients include:

  • Courtney Adkins
  • Abigail Colbert
  • Shelby Craft
  • Carlee Hendershot
  • Amanda Lovern
  • Jenny Porter
  • Hannah Schmanske
  • Rosalie Starkey
  • Traci Stephens
  • Andrew Turnbull

The program’s impact has gained recognition at the state level, with FEF receiving a Texas Education Foundation Network (TEFN) award last semester for its innovation and excellence in educator support.

“We are incredibly proud to support our dedicated educators and grateful to our Education Foundation for helping make this possible,” said FISD Superintendent Thad J. Roher. “This program is helping transform lives, both for our staff and the students they serve.”

As FEF looks to the future, the Foundation remains committed to expanding the Continuing Education Scholarship Program and deepening its investment in the educators who make FISD exceptional.
