The Friendswood ISD Education Foundation (FEF) hosted its annual Sporting Clays Tournament on Friday, Oct. 4 at the Greater Houston Gun Club. The Foundation welcomed 100 guests for an afternoon of fun, fellowship and friendly competition that raised over $30,000. All funds raised from the event will support the Foundation’s mission of supporting and enhancing FISD by providing innovative and engaging learning opportunities for all students through meaningful relationships.
FEF Executive Director Ashley Adair said the energy and momentum generated by this event were truly inspiring.
“It was so encouraging to see the hard work of our Sporting Clays Committee come to life and to know how that is going to translate into an impact on our students and teachers in FISD through innovative grants,” Adair said.
In addition to the tournament, participants enjoyed lunch, games like Gun Powder Golf and a team flurry, and a raffle including a Traeger grill, Tecovas boots, and a $1,500 gift card to Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Top teams were awarded champion Yeti tumblers and even the last place team received kiddie fishing poles to try their luck at another sport.
Top event sponsors and underwriters included Texan Bank, Reactor Resources, Banfield Properties, Boat Right Marine, JJ’s Car Wash, Stedman West Interests, and Tecovas.
“This event is a great example of what makes Friendswood great,” Event Chair and FEF Director Brad Freyer said. “From FEF Board members volunteering their time, to local business owners sponsoring to support the mission, to the community taking time out of their busy schedule to ensure a successful event. Everyone was working together to inspire innovation in FISD.”
